The Otter.ai student discount is a documented education price for eligible individual Pro accounts. This guide helps students and educators compare billing options, check institution and account requirements, and find the correct claim route. Terms reviewed October 13, 2026; retained coupon listings have not been checkout-tested.
Student and teacher pricing
Otter publishes a 20% education discount on Pro: $13.59 month-to-month or $79.99 billed annually ($6.67 monthly equivalent). Annual billing requires the annual payment; it is not a $6.67 month-to-month subscription. The retained price illustration below accompanies the comparison.
| Billing option | Standard Pro | Education Pro | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $16.99/month | $13.59/month | $3.40/month |
| Annual | About $100/year | $79.99/year | About $20/year |
The standard annual figure is rounded from the published $8.33 monthly equivalent. Compare these terms with the full Otter.ai pricing guide. Education Pro is an individual account program; Workspace features are excluded.
Who qualifies for the education discount?
Otter lists individual students, faculty and full-time staff at eligible educational institutions, including accredited schools, qualifying nonprofit education institutions, school districts and regional service agencies. Its help page excludes affiliated hospitals and patient-care facilities, and government education offices. See the official eligibility rules for your institution.
How to claim the Otter.ai student discount
- Use your eligible school email on an individual Basic account. If you are in a Workspace, resolve that account membership with your admin before purchasing this individual plan.
- Open Upgrade plan or Account Settings → Plan. Choose the Student & Teacher Discount link beneath the plan options.
- Select monthly or annual billing and confirm that the education price appears before payment.
What if your school email does not end in .edu?
Contact Otter Support for review instead of assuming another verification service will approve the account. Otter may request proof of accredited status. If you already pay for a plan, its education instructions require cancelling the current subscription first; clarify timing and account status with support before changing it.
Free Basic or education Pro: choose by your workload
Use the free-plan guide to compare recording limits and the separate Business trial. For example, three 20-minute recordings a month are a different workload from twelve 60-minute lectures. Check session length as well as monthly minutes, file imports and export needs; a monthly allowance alone is not enough to choose.
If you need shared billing and team administration, compare regular paid plans rather than treating the individual student rate as a Workspace discount. A nonprofit organization should review the separate TechSoup Business program.
Education price versus another promotion
An eligible education price does not establish that an extra coupon will stack. Use the Otter.ai discount overview to compare saving routes and the redemption guide if you have a specific supplied offer. We do not carry forward expired back-to-school claims as current offers.
